Truly a verdict platform or just for the commotion?

We all see news on television. We need it to highlight sensibility, empower ourselves, know the world around us, make quick and sharp decisions for the time ahead, know the economy and how to act accordingly, etc. It means that the news channels create much of our knowledge regarding most of the subjects available and much beyond that. But do we find it helpful, or is it just us trying to catch up on 5-minute information from a 30 mins long exaggerated story around it. Now I am not saying that all Indian news channels do not provide a piece of valid information, but at the same time, we have the right to evaluate and criticize the ones who do not hold up to proper decorum. Someone stated online, “90% of Indian news channels are just perception building agencies and have nothing to do with journalism. They play for the gallery and run vicious propaganda”. It is on us how to evaluate each news channel and the program and data telecasted by them. Here are a few comparisons through which everyone should analyze any channel or news information telecasted by them.
Does the channel we are looking at do an actual discussion in the form of debates? Do they provide valid and thought-worthy points, or totally shout and personally attack each other?
Does the channel stand as upfront of news or just become a screen for mere politics?
Does the channel show us the reality with clear, proven, and fact-based naked truth, or add their masalas to the stories?
Does the channel stand as a voice involving every group or speaking related to their interests?
These are just a few questions that we need to ask ourselves before considering any news provided by any news channel. These will define the accuracy and credibility of any telecaster. The most important of all is the content. The content provided by them is a thing that should be helpful to the audience. It should have the highest level of accuracy and should give actual knowledge to people. The program would be fun with amusing facts, but only when it is accurate. Debates would be a better way of understanding different perspectives of people coming from different backgrounds, but a priority must be given to a certain level of decency. People want political news but the ones obliging rather than an exchange of blows. The plan of action must be rid of any biases, favoritism, or corruption. Full respect must be provided for what the viewers want to be educated about rather than what can earn them more viewership. Viewers deserve raw and honest messages rather than the curtains hiding much of the truth. Inconvenient truth might be a pain in the start but better than a reassuring fiction causing a cost in the future. Only then real BREAKING NEWS will be highlighted as really a breaking one.
One should thus come down to the main question, “Is that particular channel worth a watch?” The analysis should be done with an immense conscience, proving that the Indian media is no joke.
